Maritime Shipping News: The Historical Power of the Sea In-Person

Ahoy, mateys! Join local author Erik Hinckley as he discusses his latest book, Merchant and Naval Ship Movements: 1764-1799.  This work documents a selection of first-hand accounts from the 18th century regional newspaper, the Connecticut Courant. Erik will present accounts of significant maritime events such as shipwrecks, piracy, privateers, naval warfare, and merchant shipping. These accounts provide insight to the vital role of both maritime shipping and naval power from the American Colonial period through the French Revolution. Registration is required.
